Mechanical Assembly Drawings consist of drawings where two or more machine parts are combined by means of various ways (nuts and bolts, nuts and studs, welding, etc.). It is important to know the basic principles of mechanical assembled drawings. The SANS-document 10111-1 (SANS - South African National Standards) shows the principles and standards for Engineering Drawings.

Isometric drawing principles
An Isometric drawing forms part of paper 2, question 3. An isometric drawing is a three dimensional drawing drawn at 30° to either sides.

The Practical Assessment Task (PAT) is a compulsory component of the final promotion mark of 25% for all candidates in grade 11. The PAT is implemented across three terms of the school year. Phase 1 should be completed by the end of this term.
