Fats

an energy source and vital for maintaing health - there are good (unsaturated) and bad (saturated) fats/oils. Common types of fats: lard, butter, margarine, shortening. Common oils come from fish, nuts and seeds.

Iron

vital for human proteins, especially blood. Found in meat, seafood, nuts, beans.

Magnesium

vital for humans, especially bones. Found in dark green vegetables, lentils, nuts, seeds,  avocado.

Protien

vital nutrient - "the building block" of your body and a source of energy. Humans need 9 types of protein from a wide variety of foods. Found in meats, dairy, eggs, fish, cerals, legumes (lentils, beans, samp) and nuts

Starch

is the common carbohydrate. You get it in maize, rice, wheat and other cereals, potatoes and cassava root.


Sugar

comes in many forms. Used to sweeten foods. Refined from sugarcane. Commons examples are white, castor, icing sugar.
